Spectacular bicycle race in carpark Maastricht

Urban Cycling event during the Euro Cycling XP show on 21 October

Maastricht 29 September - Carpark P5 of the MECC conference center in Maastricht will be hosting the second edition of the Car Park Cannon Ball series on Saturday 21 October. A new and spectacular race format turning the carpark into a cycling arena in a party atmosphere.

The Car Park Cannon Ball series is a new international urban cycling concept. Riders will be racing their bicycles up all levels of a carpark, ending at a party with live DJ, craft beer and street food, once they’ve crossed the finish line.  It is designed to be equally exciting for the riders and the spectators alike, and provides a unique experience to enjoy a great night out in a carpark filled with cycling enthusiasts and no cars in sight.

The Car Park Cannon Ball has all ingredients of a new way of cycling. It is fast, technical, short and fun. Competition is fierce and the riders rely on the best materials to ride as hard as they can. This matches well with the performance oriented Euro Cycling XP bicycle show running from 20 to 22 October at the MECC conference centre in Maastricht, The Netherlands.

Participants will be racing in different categories: geared and fixed gear, men and women. Shoot-outs determine the Car Park Cannon Ball Kings and Queens. Riders can challenge pro riders Maurits Lammerink and Jenthe Biermans of Team Katusha Alpecin as well as the winners of the first Edition in Eindhoven Eamon Lucas, David van Eerd and Lieke de Cock. Registrations are open to all through carparkcannonball.cc. Entry tickets are also valid for entry of the Euro Cycle XP show.

Daan van Well, Directeur Sportif of à BLOC: "Car Park Cannon Ball gets to the core of a new way of cycling. It's fast and furious, it's urban, it's as fun for the riders as for the spectators, it's accessible and it's very competitive. We're extremely pleased to be able to showcase this spectacular concept at Euro Cycling XP to all cycling enthusiasts visiting the show."

Stephan Räkers, organisor of Euro Cycling XP: "Euro Cycling XP is a high-end interactive cycling event, focusing on all aspects of cycling at the competition level. Our goal is to inspire cyclists, and to create an environment for the cycling community to meet up and share knowledge and experiences. We are proud to be hosting the 2nd Car Park Cannon Ball event and offer our visitors a completely new race format and afterparty on the Saturday night of the show."

About à BLOC

Craft Beer Made for Cyclists

à BLOC brings together two of our favourite worlds: cycling and craft beer. We blended these and put them in a bottle, creating à BLOC Superprestige Natural Blonde Beer. The recipe has been designed to be the most refreshing post-ride beer you can have. It contains elements of a Pilsner, IPA and Hefeweizen, and the result is a great tasting crisp and refreshing, unfiltered and unpasteurised craft beer, rich in proteins and vitamin B. On top of that, we added Alpine Minerals making à BLOC the perfect beer for after a ride.

We’re both local and global. We created the recipe with our master brewer in The Netherlands, and we work with craft brewers around the world to brew locally with the best ingredients. This enables us to brew our beer close to the cycling communities we serve around the world, making for a better quality beer and reducing transport. We sell online and we want to work with local bike couriers to deliver the beers. It’s a win-win for everyone, and better for our planet!

We Share The Ride

à BLOC is more than just a beer. Our goal is to unite cyclists around the world and celebrate the beauty of cycling. We believe that performances and challenging each other are some of life’s greatest experiences. Through them, friendships are forged, especially in cycling. We ride hard, but we wait on the top of the climb to return together. So we can share our stories in good company. And with a great beer!

We created the wesharetheride.com platform to inspire cyclists and facilitate them going with friends to do what we like best: riding our bikes and discovering awesome places. So we’re not just selling beer, we’re creating a worldwide community of like-minded, passionate cyclists.
